I was recently asked a question.
Actually, The Question.
“What is the key ingredient to living an inspired, purpose-driven life?”
Trick question. Trick answer.
The key ingredient to living an inspired, purpose-driven life is embracing the fact that nothing is static — that your key ingredient will EVOLVE, as you do.
Right now, you may be inspired by Gothic rock & the glorious bleakness of lost love and longing.
Tomorrow, it might be a kiss that you carry in your cells, for decades.
Next year, it might be your new baby boy, and his pure-faith curiosity.
And on your 40th, 50th or 90th birthday, it might be the post-Impressionist artwork of Paul Gaugin.
The key, truly: follow your ever-evolving bolts of fascination, infatuation & INSPIRATION without over-thinking. Without any thinking.
Follow. Even if the bolts of inspiration “make no sense.” (what, you’re looking for tangible order in the Divine?)
Follow. Even if they’ve got “nothing to do” with the PhD thesis you bled over, for years.
Follow. Even if it means leaving (what you thought was) your Work by the wayside.
Follow. Your life purpose loves a good road trip.

A big hells yes to this,
I thought theater and directing was my work, but curiosity kept leading me down other paths. Now, I know I’m exactly where I was meant to be. And I know that could, and probably will, change.
