Autumn is the shizz. S’all I’m saying.
Here at the Haus of Franzen, September was all about crisp boundaries and clean sweeps. Replacing my to-do list with a stop doing list. Sharpening pencils. Feeling playful. Testing. Teasing. Tweaking.
A whole lotta blogging going on, too. Feel like ya missed something? Here’s a recap. A Unicornicopia, if you will.
For your perusal:
♥ Unicorns for Socialism Turns 1, Learns To Sit Upright. Happy blogoversary to me! Earlier this month, UFS crawled towards toddlerdom, and we celebrated with some half-price logos, plus 15 freebie copies of my Self-Promotion Toolbox.
♥ AFFIRMATIVE. I am a woman who escaped the cubicle, but respects those who choose to stay. Who found her brand-new lover and her gently-used vehicle online. Who longs to be RuPaul’s protégé. It’s a statement of convictions, with a soft underbelly. I showed you mine. So, show me yours.
♥ Raising Rates. And, My Philosophy on M.O.N.E.Y. As a freelancer, rate-setting is a tricky business. I decided to nudge mine skyward, and ‘splain my reasoning.
Shameless Self-Promotion:
♥ Lifescripts for Hustlers. Rate-setting. Heart-breaking. Saying “no” to needy friends. Life is full of potentially-awkward moments. Ever wish you had a non-sleazy script to guide you through the muck? Pretty soon, you will — cuz I’m writing the (digital) book. Oh, and if you tell me which lifescript you need most, I’ll send you a lil’ “muchas gracias” gift.
Flotsam + Jetsam:
♥ Also in September: I got interviewed by Twin Cities Spark. One of my favorite clients — d.trio marketing — launched their saucy new website (copywriting by yours truly). I went to Los Angeles for 10 days, and fantasized about a Xanadu-themed midwinter hot cocoa carnival with Dyana Valentine and Dian Reid. I led a workshop at a crisis intervention center. I spent a day in Stillwater, watched gondoliers on the St. Croix River, bought a vial of black truffle oil, and wept with happiness. I am so goddamn blessed.
Onward and Upward, October!
Unicorn Hat image via lollytot’s Etsy shop. The hat is “reserved” (it’s a custom design) but it’s on my wishlist, forever & always.

Oh my goodness, I need that hat in my life. If it were purple, I would just die.
TARA: I’m with you. I want one in every color. I’d get cremated in that hat.
OMG. I just read the description: You can custom-order hats in whatever unicorn color you want. I so want to put dibs on purple.
