RuPaul Appreciation Day!

I have a mega-crazy celebrity-crush on RuPaul. She is my personal version of Oprah. If Ru started a book club, I’d read anything on her list. If she started a magazine, I’d be a lifetime subscriber. If she created a smash-hit reality TV show — oh WAIT! She did. And it’s fierce.

You may know the glamorous RuPaul from her daytime talk show on VH1, which premiered back in 1996. But did you know that she’s also a prolific songstress, with NINE albums under her rhinstone-encrusted belt? Or that she’s had the distinction of interviewing such legendary entertainment icons as Mary Tyler Moore, Diana Ross and Chaka Khan? Or that she’s authored two books — a tell-all autobiography titled Lettin’ It All Hang Out and a lifestyle guide called Workin’ It? Heavens to Betsy! This diva means business. And I LOVE it.

By the power vested in me by the All-Mighty Internet, I officially declare March 22nd to be RUPAUL APPRECIATION DAY!

Take a moment of silence to honor RuPaul Andre Charles — Supermodel of the World — on this most auspicious of days. Actually, who am I kidding? Take a moment of DISCO! And while you’re at it, watch this blast from the past: Elton John + Ru singing “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” back in 1995. Cutest. Duet. Ever. Conceived.

RuPaul was amazing in the Brady Bunch movie as Jan’s guidance counselor. “Come back when you’re pregnant. And grrrrl… you better work”

  3. KATY: I have a mad crush on Pandora Boxx. But you already knew that. I hope she wins! Ooooh how I hope it!
