It’s the winter holiday season here in the Northern Hemisphere … which means lots of inebriating libations for one and all!
Over the past 4 years (since becoming a legal booze consumer) I have perfected a handful of low-fuss, high-flavor party beverages — all with four ingredients or less. Because honestly, who has the patience for fancy-shmancy drinks with sixteen pricey components? Leave that to the expert bartenders, I say.
In the spirit of giving and sharing and getting in good with Santa, here are my favorite drink recipes. Enjoy responsibly … preferably at home, in your PJs, away from sharp objects and car keys.
{ The Canadian Christmas }
Pour a hearty splash of vodka (or dark rum) into a glass full of crushed ice. Top with Egg Nog (I prefer Soy Nog, but I’m weird) and drizzle with real maple syrup. Ho ho ho, eh?
{ The Skeevy Poolside }
Muddle fresh mint leaves and lime in the bottom of a tall glass. Add equal parts plain white rum and coconut-flavored Malibu rum. Plunk in a few pieces of ice and top with cold Diet Coke. Garnish with more mint & lime wedges (plus a neon-colored straw). It’s Christmas in West Hollywood!
{ The Faux Kir }
Pour a glass of cold white wine. Add a faint splash of Chambord black raspberry liquor. Pretend you’re at The Bar Hemingway in Paris, exchanging bon mots with your coterie.
{ The Incredible Hulk }
Fill a flute with cold champagne or prosecco. Add a dash of turquoise Hypnotiq liquor. Enjoy your fizzy green libation, and try not to smash things or tear off your t-shirt. Unless it’s really wild Hanukkah party.
